Kamakura Station (鎌倉駅 Kamakura-eki) is a railway station on the Yokosuka Line in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan, operated ...

Kamakura is a small town in Kanagawa Prefecture less than an hour from Tokyo by train. Kamakura is an ancient city that has produced its own, original culture. Once it was a political capital along with Nara and Kyoto, and also the birthplace of Japan's first military government, the "Kamakura Bakufu".
Most visitors make a beeline for the Great Buddha and stop off at Hase Kannon on the way; these sights can be very crowded on weekends and holidays. It also has a laid-back, earthy atmosphere complete with organic restaurants, summer beach shacks and surfers.
