Since 1964, Jigokudani Yaenkoen has been the popular place for many to observe the Japanese macaques fascinating way of life all year round. The macaques are known for bathing in the hot spring during the cold winter months. Popularly known as the snow monkeys, they are loved by people from all over the world. Many reseachers and photographers have come to study the unique and fascinating behaviour of the Japanese macaques.
